The next scheduled meeting of the Parish Council will be held on the date indicated above at The Old School, Menheniot PL14 3QY.

Civility & Respect

Throughout the local government sector, there are growing concerns about the impact bullying, harassment, and intimidation are having on local councils, councillors, clerks, council staff and the resulting effectiveness of local councils.


Councillors in Menheniot have signed up to a Civility & Respect Pledge that sets out what they regard as acceptable behaviour between themselves and their residents.


If you have any concerns about the behaviour of councillors or council staff towards you or people you know, report this to the Clerk's Office in confidence. If your complaint is about the Clerk, please write to the Chair of the parish council. You can find their contact details on the 'Parish Council' tab at the top of this page.

New Bus Timetable 1 Sep 2024

A new timetable for the Saltash Red Bus service to Liskeard starts on 1 September. The 452 (Friday service) is unchanged, leaving Menheniot church at 9.29am. The 451 (Wednesday service) leaves Merrymeet at 9.23am (not 9am as previously). Full timetable below. Copies are posted up in the shelters at Menheniot, Merrymeet and Bethany.

Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults

This council takes seriously its responsibility under the current legislation to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults, and to work together with other agencies to ensure that there are adequate arrangements within our organisation to identify and support those who are suffering harm. Where someone is suffering significant harm, or is likely to do so, action will be taken to protect that person.

Thank you to everyone who grew, pruned, swept and smiled to make our parish clean, colourful and flowery for the judges visit this week. Fingers crossed - results announced on 8 October in Bath!

How the parish council spends your money 2024/2025

At their public meeting on 14 December 2023, councillors voted to approve the parish council budget for 2024/2025 and to set a precept (local council tax) that will be charged out to residents in the coming year. This note explains what the council’s budget for next year is and sets out how it manages residents’ tax receipts.

The precept for 2024/2025 has been agreed at £26,832. This is an increase of £1,632 (6.5%) set against a current inflation rate of 6.7% (September 2023 CPI). The cost to a Band D property is an increase from £38.55 in the current year to £40.68 (5.5% or £2.13)
